Graduating from Plymouth College of Art and Design with a BA Fashion Degree, Alice Perry’s passion for design has continued to grow ever since. Working from a small studio in Devon, Alice is now a freelance surface pattern designer following her completion of e-course ‘The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design.’
“Growing up in a pretty Cornish seaside village has influenced my style of work. I’m drawn to nature with inspiration often coming from birds, animals and flowers. When out and about I take my camera to snap images that I feel will inspire me later on.”
“My design process starts in my sketch book, creating the initial elements of a design, drawing in pencil and then working on top in ink. I then adapt them using Photoshop and Illustrator, allowing me to experiment with colour or to repeat designs. My work is always colourful and has a strong illustrative style.”
“My aim is to continue to grow and develop as a designer, I dream of walking into a store and seeing my designs on products. I feel my work is particularly suited to the stationery and home ware market. I currently have licensed wallpaper with wallpapered.com and Art2Start as well as having an Etsy store where I sell prints. I’m always keen to hear from anybody interested in my work and welcome freelance projects or commissions.”
